b.  160.1
c.  160.2
d.  160.3

The correct answer is A.

Here’s a little bit about Terri:

What are your current job responsibilities?
I am currently a CDI specialist. I review charts both concurrently and retrospectively and code them. I review the charts and proactively assist in getting the physicians to document with more specificity. I review the charts for medical necessity and work with the coders in the event that the CDI specialist’s DRG and coder’s DRG differ. Also I am currently teaching clinical staff members how to determine DRGs.

Why did you decide to pursue a career in health information management?
I am an LPN, CPC, and COC. I have been a nurse for 39 years. I transitioned to coding about 20 years ago and fell in love with it. I love the "detective" work that goes into coding.

What do you like most about your job?
I love the interaction with the doctors and all the staff. I love to teach and help expand the knowledge of others and learn from others.

What is your favorite area of coding?
My favorite area of coding is coding a huge chart and digging in. I also enjoy the never-ending education to be the best that I can be.

What is your least favorite area of coding?
My two least favorite parts of coding are the illegible doctor handwriting, especially the time wasted in trying to figure out what they have written, and physician queries, because I have to chase after doctors to get a response.

What are some of your hobbies?
Some of my hobbies are cruising, photography, and reading.

Do you have a personal motto that you live by?
There is always a light at the end of a tunnel. I just pray it isn't a train coming at me.
