What are your current job responsibilities?
My job responsibilities are medical transcription, medical assistant, coder, and billing for Pecos Neurological in Roswell, NM .
Why did you decide to pursue a career in health information management?
I have been in the medical field since 1987. I found my niche in the medical field when I was a young mother, as a way to support my children. I love the many different facets of the medical field. As I have matured in life I have found the health information management side of the medical field to be an exciting and challenging place to focus my career.
What do you like most about your job?
I love investigating and solving puzzles, which is a large part of coding. I work for a neurology private practice physician. We have a great staff who are more like family than employees.
What is your favorite area of coding?
I really enjoy neurology coding, but I worked in the cardiology field for many years, so my heart still wonders there occasionally.
What is your least favorite area of coding?
Pathology would be my least favorite area.
What are some of your hobbies?
I have a passion for riding motorcycles with my husband and using them to open the door to share with others how Jesus changed our lives. I also love spoiling and spending time with my four children and five grandchildren. I just love life and want to live without regrets.
Do you have a personal motto that you live by?
My life motto is Philippians 4:13: I can do all things through Christ Jesus who strengthens me.
